The adrenal glands secrete hormones such as cortisol, estrogen, and testosterone that are essential to health and vitality and significantly affect how your body functions.Proper adrenal support is essential to complete the hormonal pathway to optimal health. These hormones closely affect your body’s ability to utilize carbohydrates and fats, convert fats and proteins into energy, and your cardiovascular and gastrointestinal functions.

Adrenal Imbalance

Overworked adrenal glands can lead to a wide array of debilitating health conditions ranging from minor allergies to morbid obesity. The adrenal glands produce three types of steroid hormones:

  • Glucocorticoids (Cortisol): Cortisol enables the body to respond and adapt to the stresses of daily life. It also helps to maintain blood sugar levels and promote a healthy immune system.
  • Mineralocorticoids (Aldosterone): Aldosterone works to balance salt and water in the body.
  • Androgens (DHEA/DHEAS): Androgens secreted by the adrenals provide the majority of DHEA for both men and women. For women, the adrenal glands are the major source of testosterone. Imbalances in the adrenal system can contribute to problems with the nervous and immune systems, body composition difficulties, blood sugar irregularities, and high androgen levels.
