Telemedicine can make it easier to get the advice you need, no matter where you are.

2 Minute Read:

Life can be busy and unpredictable. And whether it is for an unexpected illness or a routine consultation, it can be hard to find the time and the resources to get the health care you need.

Aside from a lack of time, circumstances such as transportation, work, or family obligations can make it difficult for patients to see their doctors for consultations and follow-up appointments.

Because of this, some care providers are finding new, innovative ways to use remote technologies to bridge the gap between patients and their much-needed care

What Should I Know About Telemedicine?

Telemedicine is used to provide remote health care with videoconferencing, remote monitoring, electronic consults, and wireless communications.

Telemedicine first developed in the 1950s as medical centers experimented with more efficient ways to share medical information across facilities.

As video and telecommunication technology improved, so has the capability and efficiency of telemedicine.

Telemedicine is primarily used for consultations and follow-up appointments. If you have a serious medical emergency, visit your nearest hospital immediately.

What Are the Benefits of Telemedicine for Patients?

Telemedicine offers patients ease and convenience.

With the proper screen and internet access, telemedicine can be utilized virtually anywhere. This is especially beneficial for patients with small children or those who are caregivers themselves.

There is also an added benefit of privacy for patients who may have difficulty being in a public place.

To ensure that patients are safe, and their information is private, providers take care to utilize secure video and audio that are compliant with HIPAA regulations.

Whether your limitation is time or transportation, telemedicine allows you the opportunity to take time for yourself and prepare for your wellness treatment. Telemedicine consultations and follow-up appointments can be applied to your cosmetic procedure (such as BOTOX® Cosmetic), your hormone replacement therapy, or with specialty testing.

What Are The Benefits of Telemedicine for Providers?

Telemedicine can be just as beneficial for providers as it is for patients.

Telemedicine makes follow through and consultations much more accessible, which results in fewer cancellations and better long-term care for patients.

Telemedicine allows health care providers to see more patients with a faster turnover, which causes a boost in revenue. Telemedicine can offer relief for medical facilities that are understaffed and cannot meet their patient demand.
